SECO successfully completed geotechnical investigations at various sites on rivers, Athi and Thwake, located at the border of Kitui and Makueni Counties. The results of investigations will be used for the design of two steel bailey bridges by China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd.
The scope of work included the drilling of 16 boreholes on the rivers and hard rock beds in order to get the characteristics of the geological conditions at various depths as well as the collection of undisturbed samples while conducting Standard penetration tests (SPT) in order to provide information on the geotechnical engineering properties of the soil. All these activities were completed within the specified duration despite the challenges in accessing the sites due to varying terrain.
SECO has amassed significant experience in design, implementation, supervision and interpretation of geotechnical investigations for various types of mining and civil engineering projects including Foundation investigations over the last 6 decades and we are able to provide technical solutions in the most complex of situations.
